TBT: A Mysterious Hiss

Today’s post is the first of our new Thursday series, of which will consist of a throwback story from my past internships. These stories are what first came out of Jake’s Tails, Tales, and Tips, and what led my initial following. With these stories, I will be posting the story along with some additional comments, so take a seat and strap in.

We just happened to stumble across a large pile of rocks, of which we knew would produce some animal activity. We circled the rocks and started climbing them, when suddenly we heard a loud hissing sound.

Guns drawn, we were prepared for some sort of cat to pounce, whether it be a bobcat or lion.

But nothing of the such ever happened. The hissing continued as we could see smaller white figures from within the boulders. We retrieved a flashlight and illuminated the crevice.

Within the crack was no cat, let alone any mammal species, but rather 2 innocent turkey vulture chicks. They produced these hissing sounds to scare any possible predators, and it just about worked – these sounds are demonic and quite creepy.

We quickly took pictures and got out so as to not upset the missing parent.
